We all know the Simpsons, that comically dysfunctional family living on Evergreen Terrace in Springfield, in the state of Undisclosed (just kidding; it's based on Oregon). They're the longest-running cartoon show, with over 550 episodes at last count. Since their debut as shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show in 1989, they've given us many moments of humor and emotion, and catchphrases to last a lifetime.
But in the past few years, many fans have taken to the internet and elsewhere, claiming that The Simpsons, which was once renowned for its cleverness and wit, has lost its touch. I feel that while the Simpsons used to be clever and witty and hilarious, the more modern episodes are boring. Sure, they've managed to keep up with the times, but the jokes sometimes go on for too long, and the moments of tenderness between Homer and Marge, or Homer and Lisa, just don't seem to be there anymore.
I'm wondering what you guys think. Has the Simpsons lost its touch, or is it just as funny as ever?

Simpsons is probably what inspired Peridot's popular insult.
