First thing's first: the flying montage we've all seen. My thoughts on it? It's fucking adorable. Saccharine? Certainly, but in a good way. It's not in-your-face cute or anything.
Lapis's backstory is pretty decent. Her line, "All the time I've spent on earth, I've seen almost none of it," is such a good line because so many people fit into it. There are so many people who take life on Earth for granted, but who never bother to live it to its fullest. Instead of going out and taking in life as it was meant to be taken in, they just sit on their backsides, guzzling Mountain Dew and playing video games all day (to provide an example).
All in all, I liked this episode, but I didn't care much for the cliffhanger ending. I suppose we'll have to wait for what will come.
Well originally I thought this was just gonna be filler of Lapis and Steven taking a trip around the world, but turns out it was more than that, which is good.
So that's why they trapped Lapis in a Mirror, because one of her powers is to use reflective surfaces like that. Though the way it happened to her was a bit less "epic" than I thought. She just gets punched by a random gem, and they just left her behind and one just stepped on it too hard in their haste. I kinda wanted something more epic, especially since Lapis is so powerful and would take more than that to defeat her. And the reason she got cracked would've been better if it were like her punishment by them, not just "oh we forgot someone."
Then again, Lapis may just be a "Glass Cannon" but still I think that was a bit too easy of a defeat for her.
