-Peridot was just working on the Drill that whole time? Boo, I want her to meet EVERYONE.
-I'm disappointed that the change isn't permanent, but I guess that's to prevent screaming. I ULTRA dig it, though.
-I like how Greg and Amethyst don't spill the beans to everyone once it's outta the bag, they kinda respect that it's really his choice.
-Steven thinking Connie is gonna be President is fucking precious.

Honestly, I wasn't apprehensive when the sneak peek of this episode showed Steven getting bigger. Maybe because he grew a small amount in this episode, unlike in "Too Many Birthdays" when he grew sporadically due to stress. Also, I dug it too. They knew just where he should be in that height, and what his voice should be at that height. It was nicely balanced.
Also, Garnet: "And now here's a song for the birthday boy...and his best friend"
We ALL know what you're up to, Garnet. Somebody be playing matchmaker.

I was extremely apprehensive about this episode because the prospect of Steven getting older and developing into an adolescent was disconcerting to me (I couldn't really say why; it just was). However, I did like his appearance as a teenager, although the voice grated on me. Then again, teenage boys' voices in general grate on me. Hell, even my own voice grates on me when I listen to it recorded. But I digress. This is perhaps the one and only time I enjoyed it when a creator kept to the status quo. I've always thought of Steven as the perfect child character, and making him a teenager just didn't sit well with me.
The animation was good--same as always. There weren't any flashy visuals or vivid, stunning backgrounds like in The Answer.
I give this episode a 8/10, for fairness.

I understand now why you stressed that Steven growing up would be a deal breaker for you. Teenager Steven was somewhat unsettling to me, it could be the way he acted or his voice. Garnet is shipping Connie and Steven hardcore though.

I can understand why he'd want to act and appear older, but that voice just grated on me. You know what I mean, right?

I kinda wonder if Steven could still use these Aging abilities when fused with someone else (i.e Stevonnie)? Like could Stevonnie perhaps make herself become older or younger looking too? Or perhaps make her larger than an average person since she's a fusion (i.e. could she suddenly be like 20ft tall if Steven fuses with her in that taller "More Adult" state)?
