"I'm on it!" Mercy wiped at her eyes and grabbed for the gun near her seat, taking aim for the Homeworld ships. Sol watched her and gave her advice as she messed with the buttons a small bit.
"Okay I think that ones to fire the gun, so start spamming it, just make sure not to hit our ship or anything." "I got it, Sol, just keep an eye out for any ships I might not see."
She started aiming and firing at the ships. After she got the hang of it, she was a pretty good shot as she focused on thinning the fleet.

Auros grabbed a gun and fired at the spectre-grey Homeworld vessels approaching. One by one, lasers shot back and forth with bright, linear flashes. Homeworld's vessels were surprisingly expendable, a result of being accustomed to having no real competition in the past few Earth-millennia. In fact, the only ship that was really a rival to their current ship was what appeared to be the rival flagship. Its sombre form beckoned to them, almost as if it were drawing them nearer, pulling them into its destruction.
"Oh, fuck," whispered Auros. "Oh, fuck!" he shouted. "Could my day get any worse?" He beckoned the rest of them to the ship slowly blocking out the sun.
...............
Ekh-cha Haemersu sat in his seat and wore the same smile. "So this is 'Earth.' Could use a bit of a touch up once we're done here." He pressed a few more buttons and spoke through an audio system. "Give them everything we've got. Pull out all the stops, and fire at will." The last words came down like a firebrand from the heavens, sealing what he thought was their inevitable doom.
...............
"Iron, do we have anything bigger than this? I've got a feeling we'll need more ammo, or power, or something!" Connie shouted.
"There's got to be something!" Pearl screeched.
"Like a bomb, or a nuke, or something!" cried Amethyst. Garnet remained the most stoic, blasting left and right.
Steven was thrown back by the force of his gun malfunctioning. Pearl let out an inarticulate screech of distress and left her gun to scoop him up. He wasn't hurt, but it startled everyone.
Auros left his post to go see about Steven when a blast shook everyone to their core. "What the hell is going on? Iron?!"

"Status report, M-11!" Iron commanded, looking over Steven.
"No damage," M-11 informed. The ships shields held against the fire like they did against the molten rock.
"You'll have to hit us harder than that, homeworld!" Iron pressed a command. The drill on the bow of the ship started to rotate, as it charged to the flagship. When the tip made contact with the flagship's shields, it effortlessly ripped through them like a power drill through cotton.
"Now! FIRE THE MAIN CANNON!" At Iron's command, the drill started to open, and from it burst forth an immensely powerful beam of light, ripping through the flagship. "Don't let up! Blow a hole through 'em!" The drill kept spinning, now burrowing through the homeworld ship. The Atlas exited the other side, leaving a huge hole in the enemy ship.

The whole flagship was shaken as it entered close to the surface. "What's going on?" snapped Ekh-cha Haemersu. The streak of white that ran down the left side of his face glistened and pulsed like a human vein.
"The hull has been breached, sir!" came a voice. "Ship is in critical condition."
"Have we done nothing?" he bellowed, and his voice reverberated through the chamber. One by one, he watched the ships in a once-invincible fleet explode. Some of the finest-programmed gems in the Diamonds' army--gone. Destroyed. Surrender was the only option for him now. "All remaining ships pull out!" he shouted, and began to tear at his uniform. He had to get out of here. A sense of self-preservation welled up in him from some primeval corner, and he ran to his cabin. He gathered his few things and ordered an escape pod to be prepared. Once he was contained safely, his few belongings attached to his uniform, he bade his Peridot goodbye, and shut the lid. He set the coordinates on the pod for Homeworld.
He shut his eyes as the pod shot out of the flagship, through Earth's atmosphere, and into the void of space. The last sound he heard before slipping into hibernation was the sound of the flagship and the rest of the fleeing vessels exploding.
He fell into a dreamless sleep.
............
Auros and the Gems looked up and saw the skies clear once again after several deafening explosions. Around their ship, giant fragments of Homeworld vessel were strewn haphazardly across the ground.
"We did it. We fucking did it!" he shouted in amazement. He dropped his empty gun, and started laughing like a maniac for supreme joy. They had triumphed.
Auros took a look out the window, and noticed the hundreds of fallen Homeworld Gems. "Iron, can you contact someone to take care of these Gems? We can't have them lying around like that. Smoky, could you help too?"
Silence pervaded the ship. Suddenly Connie broke the silence
"Where are we gonna go now?"
Auros looked upwards. "The only place we can go. Space."

"Dammit, we can't retrieve the Gems like this..." Iron muttered. Suddenly something zoomed across the viewport, Gems vanishing in its wake.
"New Gems appearing in hold," M-11 informed.
"Get some focus on that UFO, identify what it is." Iron commanded.
"It's unit #28, Nickel," M-11 informed, "He is collecting the Gems and transporting them to the hold via bubble warp."
"H-He's back!" CJ cheered, teary-eyed.

Smoky peeked out the video and dropped his rubble.
"He's seriously saving those Jerks? Well then again we could beat some information outta them..."
Smoky got up and tapped his metal mask, he then did a pulling apart motion with his hands, this resulted in a large segment of other ship slowly ripping in half revealing more gems and making Nickel's job easier.
Smoky did a saluting gesture toward nickel before going back into his seat.

"The enemy fleet is retreating," M-11 informed.
"Good," Iron nodded, "Open the hangar so we can recieve Nickel."
"Opening hangar doors." M-11 opened the rear of the ship, as Nick flew inside and allowed M-11 to close the doors again.
"Good...M-11, make a landing near Beach City," Iron ordered, "We're not going to be kidnappers."
"Command received. Landing in southern gulf." The Atlas started to descend, silently floating over Beach City like a cloud before settling in the water. Iron stood up and addressed the team.
"I know some of you call Earth home," he began, "So I'll let you say your farewells to anyone you feel needs to know, if you still want to come. If not, then this is goodbye. M-11, keep sensors looking for Technetium and disengage the teleport link. While he will probably be after the Black Box, I'm not taking chances."

Technetium made his way through what was left of where the battleship was prior to launch, finding the box. He built around it, incorporating it into a computer interface terminal. He reviewed the data, nearly breaking the interface after hearing the record of the last moments of M-12 on the ship. "Very well... If I stand the sole defender of this cause... I will be wiped out... I must gain note strength..." He constructed a rover around the black box, driving it off into the forest.

Mercy spoke up. "Iron, I'm coming with you, but I have one last thing to do before I go. It may take a bit, so please be patient. Sol, lets go."
He nodded and swooped Mercy onto his back. "Hang on." He zoomed away from the shore quickly and towards their destination. After about 20 minutes, they stopped at a house in the woods, where Empire City could be seen shining in the distance. Her aunt and uncle wouldn't be at the dojo just yet.
Mercy got off of Sol and went to the door. She knocked on the door and waited. There was a shuffling behind the door, then it opened slowly. Heath and Rayon were right behind the door, looking sleepy-eyed, but their eyes widened and they smiled happily when they saw her.
"Mercy!" "What a surprise, love!" They came outside and group-hugged her, then they moved onto Sol, scratching his ears and neck.
Heath and Rayon were both still in their pajamas, Heath in his matching red plaid and Rayon in his light blue and green plaid.
Heath turned to her, his face growing worried. "Is everything alright, sweetie? This is kinda a surprise visit. You always let us know when you're on your way to our place."
Mercy was quiet, then she hugged them both close. "Sol and I are going away for a while. The world is in danger and the CGs need my help. And...I don't know when I'll be back. But I can try to stay in contact with you guys and everything, its jus-"
She stopped when Heath picked her up and kissed her forehead.
"Its okay, Moonbeam, we understand. The Howlers and I will take care of things while you're gone. Just...come home safely to us, okay? We'll be waiting for you."
Mercy nodded, tearing up. Rayon kissed her cheek and wiped her tears. "We love you, darling. Be safe for us." She nodded. Heath and Rayon went up to Sol and hugged him again.
"Take care of her, alright?" Sol licked their faces. "I promise, she'll be safe." Rayon scratched his chin. "And you be safe too, Sol, Mercy would be crushed if you weren't."
Sol chuckled. "I know...well, its time, Mercy. We don't want to keep the others waiting." She nodded, then hugged them both one last time.
"I love you guys, and tell the others I love them too." Mercy got onto Sols back, Heath and Rayon holding each other. "We love you too, Mercy, never forget that."
"I won't." Sol took off as she waved to them. In another 20 minutes, they were back in Beach City, near the shore and the ship.
