I have a theory.
A juicy one.
I was thinking about what the Rubies said about Rose Quartz. They said that the only reason she was able to keep the Rebellion going was because of her healing abilities.
There was no way that most of her friends only became cracked, because obviously Homeworld wouldn't be giving it their all. Homeworld shattered gems, and many of them, but still the small Rebellion continued. How?
The only way I could see this happening is if Rose could not only heal cracked gems, but provided she has all the pieces, revive shattered gems. We haven't seen Steven heal a shattered gem yet, but no doubt Rose was able to do so.
Which resulted in the Diamonds having to corrupt the planet: shattering gems would take too long, they needed a fast solution to get rid of the annoying rebellion.

I doubt it. I mean Rose's power seems more like something for only injuries and not death, which is why the Homeworld had to resort to Cluster Gem Experiments for even an attempt at Gem Reanimation. I suppose if they use all the same shards, they'd just come out as a whole regular Gem, but in a zombified-like state.

I mean, Steven was ABOUT to use his healing powers on a shattered plate... is that foreshadowing? Not saying everything is foreshadowing but it seems odd that Steven would just shatter a plate and expect it to come back together. Unless it really does.
