Hello guys. I may have figured out how Gems can be siblings and cousins.
Here are the facts:
• Gems have DNA.
• Injectors put “colourful goo stuff” into the ground that form into Gems.
I’ll refer to the “colourful goo stuff” as goo for short.
How Gems Can Be Siblings:
• After goo is inserted into the ground, it may multiply, resulting in Gem siblings.
• They were made from the same goo.
How Gems Can Be Cousins:
• When goo is made, it can be divided/sometimes multiply into copies. The goo copies are then converted into Gems who are cousins.
Possibilities of Gems being siblings/cousins:
• When they fuse, they have the option to increase their power even further but at the risk of separating more easily due to special genes they possess or improved synchronisation.
• They can act as keys/passes for the same Gem doors/gates due to their shared genetic information.
• They can be the only ones capable of using certain weapons and technology that are coded to their genetic information.
Potential siblings:
• Lapis and Sapphire
Potential cousins:
• Amethyst and Jasper.
• Pearl and Peridot.
Thanks for reading.

One thing, if the goo were to multiply into copies, it would still contain the exact same DNA. This would make the gems not cousins but exact copies of each other.
