Steven Universe doesn't have holidays.
I watched this video and was surprised at fact #8.
What does this change for us?

That the history of this universe is very, very, VERY boring. At least on the human side of things. No wars, or treaties, or discoveries, pretty much the only war humanity was involved in was the war for Earth against Homeworld, and it seems that's been kept under wraps, and human involvement was minimal.
Holidays are the hallmark of tradition, they signify that something important happened. The fact that the world of Steven Universe has none means that absolutely NOTHING happened to warrant any sort of commemoration.

I agree with Agai, and it actually saddens me a little. I was hoping for a Steven Universe Christmas Special to happen.
If there are no holidays, there probably isn't any sort of organized religion either (if that was mentioned in the video, I wasn't able to see it because the video wouldn't play.) Considering how monumental a part different religious faiths have taken in our own world, to have a world where religions never existed is pretty boring. Without different religions, a lot of stuff would be lost. Yeah, I know I'm not really one to talk considering what I've said on religion in the past, but think about it. Without religions, we wouldn't have a lot of visual art and music. If it weren't for the Catholic Church, for instance, Michelangelo wouldn't have painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling and wall with his beautiful frescoes, and Mozart wouldn't have composed so many achingly beautiful Masses, including the Requiem Mass, his last work. Without the different schools of Buddhism that flourished in the East, we wouldn't have so many gorgeous temples and statues of the Buddha, nor would we have the haiku, the idea of Zen, or the yoga practiced today around the world.
I didn't mean to make this all about religion again, so my apologies.
I'm also curious as to where these "facts" are coming from. I don't have Twitter, so I don't follow the Crewniverse that way, and in consequence I'm not very up-to-date on things. But I still think a lot of these facts--such as WWII never happening, and the lack of holidays/religion--sound pretty fishy. Hopefully Rebecca has an explanation; if not, it comes off as bad storytelling, in my opinion. You can't just toss random stuff in your show just to say it's there or something like that.
Oh whale; let's see what the next Stevenbomb brings us.
P.S. I noticed that Rebecca's brother looks like Drake with his facial hair. Is that just me or did you guys see it too?

I think it's a way of being more PC. Not the way I would have preferred, but it does leave the writers some leeway. A small flaw in a larger picture.

I've never been a fan of political correctness, as it does deprive people of different opinions to think about, and I think that Steven Universe is already pretty progressive and inoffensive with regards to things like LGBT relationships, emotional states, loved ones, and the idea of understanding new concepts and people and treating them with love and kindness. All of these things are conveyed through well-woven metaphors that are neither too mature nor too infantile. I like that about the show, I like it a great deal. If the idea of not keeping holidays in SU is a way of being PC, I don't see how. Lots of shows have Christmas episodes that don't even try to ruffle people's feathers, as it were; why would Rebecca want SU to be any different? Is it yet another unique quality which she wants the show to have, or did she simply forget about it? What do you think?

Perhaps she concluded that it wasn't really necessary to have a "Christmas special" or any other sort, so they're ommitted altogether.
To be perfectly honest, this might all be from erroneous facts. Frederator has gotten facts wrong before, with how may they botched in their "107 Transformers Facts" video.

While it may not have been "necessary," I just feel it would have been a cute little touch to the show. But I guess that's what fan films are for, am I right?
